The final teaching in our ‘Everybody Hurts’ series focuses, again, on the theme of forgiveness. In order to forgive others we must first come to terms with–and forgive–ourselves. Using the ‘Great Commandment’ of loving God and loving our neighbor as ourselves, Josh invites us to think about how God sees us and accepts us, and in turn, how we should make that reality foundational to our identity.

This week in our ‘Everybody Hurts’ series Josh begins a two-week focus on forgiveness. In this first installment, we learn that forgiveness is a lot like breathing. We need to breathe in life-giving air, but at the same time, we must breathe out to make room for more air to come in.

This week in our ‘Everybody Hurts’ series we talked about being hurt by religion. Too often religion serves as a barrier, not an avenue, to reconnection with God and others. Josh invites us to see Jesus’ path as one that removes obstacles and helps us live more freely.

This week Josh begins a new series called ‘Everybody Hurts’. This series will focus on the hurt, pain, and suffering that we all experience in life, and the hope that none of those things will have the final word. In this introductory teaching we look at the life story of a man named Joseph. One of the key things we learn from Joseph is that in the midst of suffering we still have choices to make. As you listen, reflect on this question: What will I choose?
